Former Aid to Artisans president Clare Smith was honored by the World Learning Institute with the World Learning Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award at the 2011 SIT Graduate ceremonies. Smith, an alumna of the 1944 Experiment in International Living to Mexico, was honored for leading Aid to Artisans to “adopt sound business strategies and access to markets.” Smith served as president of ATA for 20 years, from 1985 to 2005, and grew the organization in its efforts to increase artisans served, export sales, and connection with international export markets. We congratulate her on this honor and join World Learning in recognition of her achievements.
